Ykids in churches...

We work with all Christian denominations, aiming to support them in developing effective children's work.

Volunteer exchange

We have developed links with churches all over the UK. One of the most beneficial aspects of this relationship is in organising volunteer exchanges.

Typically, this begins when a Ykids team of staff and volunteers from the Liverpool area travel to a church to assist in a special event or programme amongst children, or deliver a training weekend. Frequently we find that the local volunteers (especially teenagers) are so inspired by what they encounter through working with Ykids that they want to get involved themselves.

This means that when Ykids organises an event, we often have small groups of people from churches across the UK who are keen to be involved. (Of course - we always tightly follow all safeguarding checks and give full supervision etc).

The knock-on effects of this volunteer exchange are that people who come to work with Ykids often become so inspired about working with children that they become far more enthusiastic about what can be achieved through their own local church. (And of course, Ykids is able to benefit from their help too).

Churches locally

Ykids is thoroughly involved in supporting the work of churches amongst children locally (through offering training, assisting in developing effective strategy etc). We also have been involved in a wide variety of joint events, such as Bootle's Urban Harvest Festival, Merseyfest, events in the Strand Shopping Centre, community carol services, Hope 08, Bootle Deanery Mission, church holiday clubs etc).

We also currently have 5 full time volunteers on a Pais team based in local churches (and we aim to expand our own gap year programme in future years).
