The army of people who make it happen

Ykids could never do the amazing range of exciting programmes and activities with children and young people without the remarkable team of volunteers that make it possible.

Each year we have up to 250 people who get involved with Ykids as volunteers. Some people help with a single event, others with projects that last a few weeks, while some people volunteer for projects, activities or tasks all year long, full or part time.

Volunteers have a lot of fun on our teams, and have great reward in seeing the difference Ykids events, activities and projects make in the lives of children and young people.

We want to look after our volunteers and offer good quality training, sometimes trips away running special children's events around the UK, and some social events just for volunteers. We aim to fit each volunteer to the team, role or project that they will best enjoy, and often begin whole new lines of work with children when we discover special talents in people (like when we found a rapper !)

What it takes

We always expect high standards from volunteers, and nobody can become a full Ykids volunteer without providing adequate references, being CRB checked by Ykids, and be successfully interviewed. But... it's worth jumping a few hurdles to be part of something which is rewarding, so much fun, and makes a real difference to children and young people's lives.

Gap year team

We also offer a gap year programme (specifically for young people between the ages of 17 and 30 with a heart and vision to serve God in youth & children's work).
